FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does a typical session look like?

We will usually start with a verbal check-in: how you are, how you were since your last session, and discuss how your home practice is going. Hands-on therapy will take up most of the session and embodiment coaching will be weaved throughout the treatment to supplement and support. In order to support and integrate changes, you will have home exercises and practices based on mindfulness, body awareness, and movement techniques.

You will be fully-clothed for the treatment (unless we organized a massage session) and lying on a massage table. Wearing comfortable clothes is recommended- think yoga or pajamas.

Sessions are 1 hr to 1hr 15mins. Ideally, after your treatment, you would be able to take some personal time (10-15 mins) to integrate, relax, or perhaps journal before needing to drive or use your telephone.

Payment methods: I take cash, check or paypal.

What is embodiment coaching?

In short and simple, embodiment is the way we sense and experience our body sensations. It’s mindfulness for the body. It’s bringing present moment awareness, fullness, acceptance and witnessing to the subtle (and not so subtle) expressions and life of our body.

There’s a lot to say on embodiment, read more here.

Like mindfulness, body-fulnes or embodiment is a practice and skill. As a practice, it has been the most influential on my personal state of mind/body and well-being. I am, and will be a forever student of it and offer coaching to support your exploration of it.

As your embodiment coach, I’ll share tools and practices to help you increase your felt sense awareness, your ability to sense what your body/mind is expressing in the moment. This will help you regulate and respond in a more healthy way to your physical and emotional conditions.

What is a “treatment process”? and

Why do you offer treatments in a series?

After giving and receiving "one-off" sessions over the years, I have come to the conclusion and understanding that although those treatments feel "good" and may help in the moment, they don't create lasting change, they don't support a deep process.  I offer sessions in a series, you buy a "bundle" of four at a time instead of one at a time.  This is to support your process, this is to allow and invite healing and change.

I imagine you have felt the difference when you've committed to a process. Perhaps it was changing the way you eat, working with a psychotherapist, or having a fitness program, I will assume that you didn't see or feel the changes after 1 or 2 sessions.  You worked diligently and daily, you committed overtime and then you felt and saw changes.

I want you to sense deep shifts; to feel good in your body; and to feel empowered when you meet challenges.

I offer treatments in a series so that we can meet, honor, and shift your most persistent conditions, invite wellness and integrate changes in your day-to-day life.

Do you offer payment on a sliding scale? Do you offer one-off sessions?

In short, probably, and let's talk. I have been offering low cost sessions for those in financial need. I truly believe that alternative therapy should be accessible for everyone who desires it. If you are struggling financially and interested to work in a process with me. Please reach out and I'm sure we'll make something work.

Treatment Process

“Embodiment is the practice of attending

to your sensations.

Awareness of your body serves as a guiding compass to help you feel more in charge of the course of your life.

Somatic awareness provides a foundation for empathy, helps you make healthy decisions, and gives important feedback about your relationships with others. Embodiment in somatic psychology applies mindfulness and movement practices to awaken body awareness as a tool for healing.”
