ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS
Are you still figuring out what you want to transform into for Halloween? Maybe you have an idea, a garment, or a collection of materials you’d love to build on, but aren’t sure how to begin. Or perhaps Halloween and costuming have always felt intimidating or uninspiring, and you’re curious about approaching them differently.
Whatever draws you here, this is an invitation to connect with your creativity, follow your curiosity, and explore what wants to take shape in a supportive, playful space.
Across cultures and centuries, costumes have offered ways to transform identity, cross boundaries, explore hidden parts of ourselves, and step outside the ordinary. What might become possible when we give ourselves permission to experiment with who—or what—we can be?
This two-part workshop offers time for both imagining and making. In our Sunday session, we’ll explore ideas through individual reflection, shared inspiration, and creative contemplation. On Wednesday, we’ll turn toward the hands-on process of developing and creating our costumes, with space to experiment, improvise, and build on our ideas.
Come to either session or both. Bring an idea, a garment, some materials, or simply your curiosity. No experience or fully formed plan necessary (on Sunday). On Wednesday, bring materials to create with! Some supplies will be available.
Although the classes will build off of one another, feel free to join one.
